2. Task- Dialogue
Work in pairs. One student is the friend, the other is the host.
You are going to act out a phone conversation about a birthday party invitation and the directions to get there.
Situation
- The host invites the friend to a birthday party and gives information.
- The friend accepts or refuses and asks for directions.
You must include
Host:
- Invite your friend
- Give the date of the party
- Say where it is
- Explain how to get there (car or bus)
Friend:
- Say if you are coming or not
- Ask at least 2 questions
(Where? How? What time? Which bus?) - Repeat one instruction to check understanding
Useful sentences
Host
- “I’m having a birthday party.”
- “It’s on Friday.”
- “You can take the bus / the car.”
- “Go straight on…, then turn left…”
Friend
- “Yes, I’d love to come!”
