2. Task- Dialogue

Work in pairs. One student is the friend, the other is the host.
You are going to act out a phone conversation about a birthday party invitation and the directions to get there.


Situation

  • The host invites the friend to a birthday party and gives information.
  • The friend accepts or refuses and asks for directions.

You must include

Host:

  • Invite your friend
  • Give the date of the party
  • Say where it is
  • Explain how to get there (car or bus)

Friend:

  • Say if you are coming or not
  • Ask at least 2 questions
    (Where? How? What time? Which bus?)
  • Repeat one instruction to check understanding

Useful sentences

Host

  • “I’m having a birthday party.”
  • “It’s on Friday.”
  • “You can take the bus / the car.”
  • “Go straight on…, then turn left…”

Friend

  • “Yes, I’d love to come!”
  • “Where is it exactly?”
  • “How can I get there?”
  • “Can you repeat, please?”
